SEEKING THE SOURCE OF WISDOM

Focus Thought:  Because God is the only source of true wisdom, we must seek to know Him and keep our hearts set upon Him.

Focus Verse:  Ecclesiastes 1:13 KJV

13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.

Lesson Text: Ecclesiastes 1:13-18 KJV

13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.

14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wantingc cannot be numbered.
16 I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
I Kings 3:5 KJV
5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
I Kings 3:9-13 KJV
9 Give therefore thy servant an understandingbheart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

10 And the speechpleased* the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11 And Godsaid unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself longlife;c neither hast askedriches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discernjudgment;
12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understandingheart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
Personal Thought:
God gave Solomon the ultimate win fall, God said to Solomon, “Ask what I shall give thee”.
Solomon said to God, ” Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I my discern between good and bad….”.   Riches, power, and long life were his for the taking yet Solomon asked God for His Wisdom and His understanding.  Solomon asked not for worldly things but for heavenly.  God was pleased with Solomon’s answer.  God gave Solomon not only the heavenly things but also the worldly.  God gave Solomon the worldly riches and power because Solomon sought for the heavenly wisdom and understanding first.
Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Better Choices: Mary And Martha

Focus Verse: Hebrews 6:10

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Focus Thought:

There is a critical balance between that which is needed and that which is best for the moment.

Lesson Texts: Luke 10:38-42, John 12:1-9

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

John 12:1-9

1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
Final Thought:  Put Your Trust In The Lord
Proverbs 3:5-10
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be healthc to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

clothed with humility

Focus Verse: Proverbs 16:18

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before fall.

Focus Thought:

God is against pride and always resists it, but He loves humility and blesses it.

Proverbs 16:5-19

5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

11 A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.

12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Communication In Marriage

SS LESSON                                                                                                  JULY 13TH, 2014

COMMUNICATION IN MARRIAGE

Focus Verse: Ephesians 4:31-32

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Focus Thought:

Good communication is essential to good marriages.

Ephesians 4:23-30

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

I Peter 3:8-10

8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Love People In A Materialistic World

SS LESSON                                                                                              MAY 25TH, 2014

LOVE PEOPLE IN A MATERIALISTIC WORLD

Focus Verse: Luke 17:28, 30

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they planted, they builded; Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Focus Thought:

A spirit of materialism will consume many people in the end times; however, the saint of God will resist materialism’s influence and love what God loves- people.

Luke 17:26-36

26And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32Remember Lot’s wife.
33Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
34I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
36Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Be Faithful Amid Fear And Doubt

SS LESSON                                                                                                               MAY 11TH, 2014

BE FAITHFUL AMID FEAR AND DOUBT

Focus verse: Hebrews 10:25

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Focus Thought:

Faithfulness marks the age before Christ’s coming.  The Lord’s bride will emerge as a faithful people who will reject fear and doubt.

Luke 21:25-27

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Hebrews 10:23-25

with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Be Filled With The Spirit Amid Carnality

SS LESSON                                                                                                              MAY 4TH, 2014

BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT AMID CARNALITY

Focus Verse: Ephesians 5:18

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.

Focus Thought:

In the end times, carnality will consume hearts and minds of all kinds of people; however, the saints of God will remain filled with God’s Spirit and live in victory.

Romans 8:1-13

1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Love Jesus Amid Persecution

SS LESSON                                                                                                                APRIL 27TH, 2014

Love Jesus Amid Persecution

Focus Verse: Matthew 24:4

And Jesus answered and said unto them, take heed that no man deceive you.

Focus Thought:

Especially in the end times, the righteous will suffer persecution; however, a steadfast love for Jesus Christ will keep God’s child through every attack.

Matthew 24:6-14

6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Luke 21:17-19

17And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.

18But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19In your patience possess ye your souls.

Final Thought:

In the last days the Bible says that it shall be as the days of Noah.  Right is wrong and wrong is right.  So far just in the past four months this has been made more obvious than ever.

We must realize that today the persecution of God’s people is at an all time high, even though the main stream media of this world does not publish it for all of us to see.

If we are truly following God the one way He has given to all people to follow.  Then be not surprised when you are persecuted for His name’s sake, Luke 21:17.

But be encouraged in the Lord today, Luke 21:18-19 says that if we are patient and wait on Him we shall not be harmed.

Flee Amid Temptation

SS LESSON                                                                                               APRIL 20TH, 2014

FLEE AMID TEMPTATION

Focus Verse: II Timothy 3:5

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:  from such turn away.

Focus Thought:

dealing with end time attitudes will require spiritual instincts of both fight and flight; fleeing all temptation will sustain those who are spiritually cleansed.

Matthew 24:12-13

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Genesis 39:7-12

7And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

8But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
9There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
10And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
11And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
12And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

Luke 21:34-36

34And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Be Fervent Amid Apostasy

SS LESSON                                                                                                                         April 6th, 2014

BE FERVENT AMID APOSTASY

Focus Verse: II Thessalonians 2:3

Let no man deceive you by any means:  for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

Focus Thought:

Apostasy will sweep the world and affect the church in the end times; however, a devoted people fervent for the things of God will resist all compromise and apostasy.
